Online gambling in Nova Scotia
Casino Nova Scotia Halifax, at 1983 Upper Water St on the downtown waterfront, is a building you walk into with photo ID. Online play in Nova Scotia works under its own rules, and the Harbour Walk desk sets them out here.

The provincial online site
Nova Scotia's provincially regulated online casino is alc.ca. Atlantic Lottery runs it for the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation (NSGC), the Crown corporation that conducts and manages regulated gambling in the province. It sits under the same Crown corporation as the casino on the waterfront. iCasino has run there since July 2022, and Live Casino was added later. You need to be 19 or older to play, the same age as for the province's casinos.
Private online casinos get no licence or registration in Nova Scotia. Atlantic Lottery says other gambling sites cannot legally operate or advertise in Atlantic Canada, whatever licence they say they hold from overseas. Regulation sits with the Alcohol, Gaming, Fuel and Tobacco (AGFT) Division of Service Nova Scotia. That division is independent of NSGC and of the operators.
Limits and breaks online
alc.ca has its own self-exclusion, for 6, 12, 24 or 36 months. It also offers a short break of 1 to 90 days. Neither can be reversed. You can set weekly deposit, daily session and daily wager limits as well. Self-exclusion from the casinos is a separate program, the Casino Nova Scotia Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program, covering Halifax and Sydney.
For help with gambling problems, Nova Scotia points to the Provincial Mental Health and Addictions Crisis Line at 1-888-429-8167. Nova Scotia Health runs it. Calls cost nothing, are confidential and are answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
How this guide is paid
Paid links appear only on this guide's home page, and each one is marked Ad. There are three: a header button, one in a block under the first screen, one near the page end. All three lead to the same private online casino partner. The guide earns a commission from them, and the partner can change.
This page carries none of them. Nova Scotia has no licence for private online casinos. The partner has no tie to any casino in the province. It also has no tie to the provincial gaming corporation or to the lottery corporation that runs the provincial site. The guide takes no bets, holds no accounts and has no cashier.
