Food and the theatre

3Sixty, May Garden and the theatre

At Casino Nova Scotia Halifax, 3Sixty and May Garden serve food, and the theatre has its own bar. The published details are short, so this sheet says plainly what is known and what is not.

3Sixty and May Garden

3Sixty is the casino's restaurant and lounge, and it doubles as a bar with live bands. It serves appetizers, entrées and desserts. Its buffet runs on Fridays and Saturdays only. May Garden, the casino's Chinese restaurant, is the second place to eat.

Opening hours for 3Sixty, the buffet and May Garden are not published. Before you set off along the boardwalk for dinner, call the casino at 902-425-7777 and ask. Holiday hours should be checked on the venue's own site as well. If you carry a Player's Club card, keep in mind that its benefits are based on play and not guaranteed.

The Bruce Guthro Theatre

The Bruce Guthro Theatre is the casino's show room, with grand chandeliers, a permanent stage and a bar. It seats up to 340 for dining or 650 theatre-style. Standing, it holds up to 850 people. Every event is 19+.

Tickets are sold only through Ticketmaster, and that includes accessible seats. Show listings sit on the theatre's page at greatcanadian.com, so check there before you plan the evening.

On the night, the box office opens 60 minutes before each show. It takes debit, American Express, MasterCard and Visa, but no cash. Bags and backpacks are not allowed in the theatre, so leave them behind. Re-entry is allowed, but outside food and drink are not, and concessions inside are limited. You may want to eat at 3Sixty or May Garden first.

The Compass Room

The Compass Room is a circular events room of over 2,800 square feet, with a panoramic view of Halifax harbour. Overhead sits a 54-foot dome, and outside is a terrace of over 850 square feet. It holds up to 200 people. Think of it as an events room rather than a restaurant, not a place for a casual dinner. For a meal on the same visit, 3Sixty and May Garden are the places to eat.
